Question too long for formspring =( I must ask do you ever feel really unmotivated? I need to ask because this is my biggest problem. I just feel so unmotivated and "sad" I don't want to draw at all (or do anything else). I hate feeling this was because I want to practise and I want to create! Any tips on making you feel more motivated and inspired?

Yes, of course! I feel unmotivated every now and then, I think it’s perfectly natural to feel that way sometimes. If I’m feeling down, art isn’t normally the first thing I want to do. This really isn’t the norm for me though, I’m generally happy most of the time and my off days (and off days with art) are just blips.

Feeling sad however, and not wanting to draw (or do anything else) sounds like a deeper issue than just being unmotivated with art, forgive me if I’m assuming wrong there. I feel woefully inadequate to answer your question.

All I can really share with you are the things that help me. The one thing that is always guaranteed to inspire me, is other art. Taking a look at all the awesome artwork around me is a great kick up the butt. I find it both motivating and frustrating as fuck. “Oh god they’re so awesome. How are they painting that? Why the shit can’t I paint that?!” etc, etc, etc. But it does help, honest. Just try and soak up the things that inspire you. Movies, music, reading, nature, photographs… whatever it may be.

Trying to advise someone on how to find inspiration is practically impossible really, it’s such a personal, individual thing. I do hope you find your groove.
