I don’t really know why I’m sharing this, because it’s so fucking horrifying. THOSE POOR BEEEEEEES!

Sickeningly awesome environment by Daniel Alekow

I know I’m probably recommending this into the ether - being as my blog is generally art focused and has bugger all to do with motorcycling, but it’s my blog damnit! Even if you have the vaguest of interest in such a subject, I thought this was brilliant and would highly recommend. A fly on the wall type documentary. It’s beautifully shot and one of the most interesting and engaging films I’ve watched.
Of course I understand if most people are thinking - what the shit - but if anyone else watches it and enjoys it, sweet.
“I would recommend this without hesitation to anyone who is into motorsport, anyone who wants to understand why other people are into it, and most strongly I would recommend it to anyone who has the slightest interest in learning about other people, what makes them tick, and what you can learn from them.”
Mother of God.
I spilled (practically threw) an entire cup of coffee over my desk and PC, including all of the wires and plug sockets. I’ve never ran to unplug anything so quickly in my life. I was expecting a loud bang, although that didn’t happen. Thank fuck!
It reminded me of the time my boyfriend spilled a drink over his laptop, and the times I’ve KO’d multiple keyboards from spilling shit.
So, it’s agreed… neither of us are going to drink anything around electrical’s… ever.

Yes, of course! I feel unmotivated every now and then, I think it’s perfectly natural to feel that way sometimes. If I’m feeling down, art isn’t normally the first thing I want to do. This really isn’t the norm for me though, I’m generally happy most of the time and my off days (and off days with art) are just blips.
Feeling sad however, and not wanting to draw (or do anything else) sounds like a deeper issue than just being unmotivated with art, forgive me if I’m assuming wrong there. I feel woefully inadequate to answer your question.
All I can really share with you are the things that help me. The one thing that is always guaranteed to inspire me, is other art. Taking a look at all the awesome artwork around me is a great kick up the butt. I find it both motivating and frustrating as fuck. “Oh god they’re so awesome. How are they painting that? Why the shit can’t I paint that?!” etc, etc, etc. But it does help, honest. Just try and soak up the things that inspire you. Movies, music, reading, nature, photographs… whatever it may be.
Trying to advise someone on how to find inspiration is practically impossible really, it’s such a personal, individual thing. I do hope you find your groove.

Thank you! I do use references some times, although mostly with my professional concept work. References are great and they should definitely be used, with my personal work however I tend to just drift away and paint what I want. If my brain was audible I’m pretty sure it would be saying “LA LA LA LA LAAAAA”
